Doi Inthanon National Park is in Chiang Mai province approximately 60 km southwest of Chiang Mai city. Doi Inthanon, the mountain, is the highest peak in Thailand at 2,565 m.

The park has the headwaters of the Mae Klang, Mae Pako, Mae Pawn, Mae Ya, Mae Cham and Mae Khan rivers.

The park is cool year round and a good respite in Thailand's hot season. In December and January temperatures of around 6 Celsius are common.

Forests include evergreen, pine and mixed decidousus teak & mountain pine. Wildlife is decreasing due to encroachment and poaching, but the more remote area will have gibbons, serow, deer, tigers, hare, wild pigs.

Bird life in the park is prolific with claims of 360 species.

The park boast a number of waterfalls; the Mae Klang, Vachiratharn and Mae Ya (which may be highest in Thailand). Siriphum was renamed in honor of HM Queen Sirikit

Brichinda Cave is limestone with a huge entrance chamber and tower and a second chamber is large with a skylight

The park is excellent for trekking, mountain biking, birding, and nature trails

Facilities include a visitor's center, bungalows, nearby guest house, camp grounds, food services.
