Car - Petchkasem Road (Route 4) is a 4 lane divided highway to Phang Nga, then Route 402 to Phuket. Another option is Route 4 to Chumphon then Route 41 to Surat Thani, 401 to the intersection with 415, reengage Route 4 to Rout 402.
Phuket is the center for much of the scuba diving in the Andaman sea. Numerous PADI shops offer courses, day trips and liveaboard excursions to the Surin and Similan Islands.
Phuket has an interesting mix of Sino Portugese architecture to contrast the beaches and nightlife. Sailing trips to the Mergui Archipelago are available as well as a newly launched schedule of flights to the Andaman Islands.
